The Variety of a Tropical Country: Exotic Plants and woods

Brazil is always remembered for its natural beauty. Every corner we see the happiness of a football match. The music is also in the Brazilian vein. From samba to bossa nova, the varied rhythms infect the carnival and rejoice the people every time of the year. Although, the variety of a tropical country goes beyond, with exotic plants and woods that we would love to cover in our Cachaça Blog.

Brazil Tropical Fuit Guaraná

Brazil is one of the top fruit producing countries in the world and it is estimated that there are at least over 300 fruits in Brazil and many of them are native such as Guaraná and Açaí, which are grown in the Amazon. Brazil is one of the largest producing countries of oranges and also Brazilians use the same word for both, lemons (Sicilian lime) and limes.

Guaraná is a good example of an Amazon native fruit. The word comes from the Guarani word guara-ná, which has its origins in the Sateré-Maué word for the plant, warana, that in Tupi-Guarani means "fruit like the eyes of the people ". This fruit features large leaves and clusters of flowers, and is best known for the seeds of its fruit, which are about the size of a coffee bean.

Subtropical climate represents the largest formation on the planet, conditioned by the humid equatorial. However, regarding Brazilian diversities, there is a lot more to discover in whole country and we would love to emphasize.

For example, Brazil shows off forests, with a continental size, that represents climate and richness of species and plants, allowing the existence of differents biomes; which means different types of habitats, ecosystems and climatic characteristics. The most important biomes in Brazil are the Amazon and the Pantanal. The main characteristic from Amazonia is a distinct ecosystem such as igapó, flooded fields, floodplains, savannah, mountain refuges and pioneer formations with a dense and seasonal forests. Pantanal, in turn, is constituted mainly by aesthetic savannah flooded and its present in the central region of the country. This ecosystem consists of largely sandy soils, covered by different physiognomies due to the variety of micro-reefs and flood regimes.

Brazilian flowers also attract attention for its beauty and unique aspect. From the best known to the most exotic flowers and woods we will highlight. In fact, it is possible to have a diversity not seen anywhere else in the world. Not only plants and flowers that call attention to all this. Different Brazilian woods, as we have already mentioned in other posts, are unique to this tropical region. Moreover, little is known about its ability to age alcoholic beverages in these native woods.

We know that more than 95% of the world's distilled beverages are concentrated in aging in European and American oak barrels. Cachaça came to bring more variety to the game with its tropical woods. This is fantastic for the sensory aspect that is added in the distillate. We find it fantastic to discover new flavors with fruits, plants and woods. The experience of tasting new flavors is indescribable. This sensory richness of modern botanic gives us the ability to explore the different ways to make remarkable drinks and cocktails
